Rubbernecking on Indian Roads
An increasing phenomenon, known as Rubbernecking is being observed on Indian roads. It is the practice of slowing down your vehicle to stare at an accident-met vehicle with no real purpose to help but for your insatiable need to look at the real life drama brewing up on one side of the road. This is the reason why we see that whenever there is an accident, then not only that side of the road, but also the opposite side of the road gets blocked by people slowing down, and in some cases even stopping abruptly and hopping out to look at what's happening.This is the reason why we see so many bikes and cars all of the sudden being parked randomly and people scouting to take a look. As if the reality shows on TV were not enough! One does not realise that this can have serious consequences; foremost being that this can prevent medical help from arriving on time.
